L.A.’s FYF Fest is back for its 10th go-round, and this year’s weekend-long bash runs Aug. 24-25 at the Los Angeles State Historic Park. The lineup features My Bloody Valentine, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, TV on the Radio, MGMT and Beach House, plus dozens more top-name acts.

Yeah Yeah Yeahs’ 2001 self-titled debut EP came out of nowhere and essentially kick-started the hipster movement, for better or worse. Coming out of Brooklyn (hipster mecca), the bass-free trio (a hipster signpost) featured a nerdy-looking drummer (ditto), an introverted super-skinny guitar player (ditto again) and a singer who looked like she’s just turning in from a night out that was either pretty damn good or life-altering regrettable.

One thing for sure about Yeah Yeah Yeahs: They rarely sound like they’re on autopilot, even when they are. Their fourth album, ‘Mosquito,’ doesn’t come off a whole lot different than their other three. The trio – singer Karen O, guitarist Nick Zinner and drummer Brian Chase -- has gotten tighter as a band, and they’re taking a few more musical risks these days, but aside from a few surface details, ‘Mosquito’ doesn’t try too hard to shake things up.

A young outcast woman gets tied up and is about to be burned at the stake in front of vengeful townspeople in the new video for 'Sacrilege,' the first single off the Yeah Yeah Yeah's forthcoming fourth album, 'Mosquito.' But why? As the clip slowly unfolds in reverse, the woman (played by model-cum-actress Lily Cole) is not only identified as the lover of a masked man who has been shot to death for some unidentified deed, but it also becomes apparent that she has had carnal relations with many of the men (and even a woman) from the town seeking revenge on her.

In second place, we can now announce that the New York post-punkers will be heading to Austin in March to play this year's South By Southwest festival, joining the bill of NPR Music's SXSW Showcase alongside Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds.
