Tashaki Miyaki, ‘Best Friend’ – Free MP3 Download

California dream-pop duo Tashaki Miyaki have released an EP and a couple singles. They have also earned considerable attention for their string of stellar covers. Their EP of Everly Brothers songs, appropriately titled 'Tahsaki Miyaki Sings the Everly Brothers,' received high praise for its version of 'I Wonder If I'd Care As Much,' and they've earned plaudits for their take on Bob Dylan's 'If Not For You.' Today, they offer a free download of their newest original tune, 'Best Friend.'

'Best Friend' is a breezy stroll through a dream-pop wonderland with overtones of Mazzy Star and Galaxy 500. It's not exactly hip-hop territory, but nevertheless, singer Lucy tells Diffuser.fm, "The song was written as a freestyle to a drum loop I made on my computer. I just played some chords over the loop and then freestyled the lyrics. I have always secretly wanted to be a rapper."
