Tegan and Sara + Lonely Island to Perform ‘Everything Is Awesome’ at the Oscars

To celebrate their Academy Award nomination in the Best Song category for 'The Lego Movie' track, 'Everything Is Awesome,' Tegan and Sara will be performing the tune on the live broadcast of the Oscar show later this month. But they won't be the only ones hopping around the stage to the poppy tune -- Lonely Island will lend a hand.

The two groups will be combining forces to bring the Lego theme song to life -- something we're sure will be as ridiculous as it is fun.

"Tegan and Sara and Lonely Island? ... Everything is awesome, indeed. This is certainly an 'Only on the Oscars' moment," Oscars producers Craig Zadan and Neil Meron said in a statement released late last week.

In the Best Song category, Tegan and Sara are competing against Maroon 5 frontman Adam Levine’s ‘Lost Stars’ from ‘Begin Again,’ Rita Ora’s ‘Grateful’ from ‘Beyond the Lights,’ Glen Campbell’s ‘I’m Not Gonna Miss You’ for ‘Glen Campbell … I’ll Be Me’ and John Legend and Common’s ‘Glory’ -- which won the Golden Globe for Best Original Song -- from 'Selma.'

With the variety of songs that have been nominated for the Oscars, we're sure it will be quite an entertaining night. The 87th Academy Awards will air on Feb. 22 at 7PM ET on ABC.
