In the most recent episode of ‘So You Think You Know Classic Rock?’, our friends at Ultimate Classic Rock explores the mysterious and tragic '27 Club' -- a group of musicians who all died at the young age of 27. Watch the video above, which includes research into this bewildering epidemic.

The club encompasses everyone from Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin and Jim Morrison to newer additions, including the 1994 death of Nirvana’s Kurt Cobain and Amy Winehouse in 2011.

While many of these deaths surrounded substance abuse, that wasn’t always the case -- at least not on the outset. For Morrison and founding Rolling Stones guitarist Brian Jones, some mystery remains around their deaths, which occurred in a bath tub and swimming pool, respectively. And Big Star’s Chris Bell died in a car accident. However, few would deny that drug and alcohol use played a major factor in many of these stars’ lives.

The video above includes fascinating research conducted by the Centre for Public Health at Liverpool John Moores University in 2012, which offers new insight and statistics into the tragic deaths of these talented musicians. Learn how substance abuse, adverse childhoods and more played a role in the high number of deaths among musicians at the age of 27 when you watch this latest episode of 'So You Think You Know Classic Rock?'.
