At the beginning of the year, the Decemberists returned with What a Terrible World, What a Beautiful World. Now, the Colin Meloy-led outfit has announced an EP with five tracks from the What a Terrible World sessions that were previously left on the cutting-room floor.

The Florasongs EP is due out Oct. 9 via Capitol, and today (Sept. 11), the band has shared its lead-off cut, “Why Would I Now?” Take a listen in the video up above, then check out the complete track list and cover art at the bottom of the page. You can pre-order a physical copy of the EP at the band’s website, and a digital download can be ordered over at iTunes.

The Decemberists will embark on a new set of tour dates later this month, starting with a concert in Boston on Sept. 23. From there, they have stops scheduled through the following month, culminating with an appearance at Austin City Limits. Along the way, the band will share the stage with Tune-Yards, Lucius and Olivia Chaney. Get more details below.
