Director Zal Batmanglij’s new film ‘The East’ – starring Alexander Skarsgard, Brit Marling and Ellen Page – follows a former female FBI agent who takes on an undercover assignment that involves joining an anarchist collective, where she falls in love with the group’s leader and is faced with a number of obstacles, moral and otherwise. The trailer features South African alt-rockers Civil Twilight’s haunting tune ‘Letters From the Sky.’

The track is the first single from their self-titled debut album, which was released in 2010 via Wind-up Records. ‘Letters From the Sky’ reached No. 7 on the Billboard Alternative Songs chart and No. 25 on the Billboard Rock Songs chart.

You may have heard the song in previous TV spots, including episodes of ‘One Tree Hill’ and ‘Harper’s Island,’ as well as in promos for ‘Big Love,’ ‘Defiance,’ ‘A Gifted Man,’ ‘Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew,’ ‘The Event’ and the WWE match between John Cena and the Rock at WrestleMania XXIX.

Civil Twilight have toured with the likes of Neon Trees, Paper Tongues, Anberlin and Crash Kings, and they’re set to perform at Riverbend Festival and Sawyer Point/Yeatman’s Cove this summer. Check out their official site for more info.
