There have been some memorable takes on the Neil Diamond classic 'Girl, You'll Be a Woman Soon' over the years, with Urge Overkill's take on the 'Pulp Fiction' song being the most popular. But there may be no act that's deconstructed the song in the manner that U.K. rockers the Maccabees have, as seen in the video below.

The group recently visited Australia's Triple J radio station for a performance, which may have something to do with the minimalist take on the song (due to the constraints of their surroundings). To begin with, only four members of the band took part in the performance.

The Maccabees' version of the track relies heavily on the repetitive guitar licks of siblings Hugo and Felix White, while drummer Sam Doyle barely registers within the performance until things start to pick up midway through. Meanwhile, singer Orlando Weeks delivers a different vocal pacing with a breathier, higher-pitched take than the original.

The Maccabees are currently supporting their third album, 'Given to the Wild,' which has already spawned the U.K. singles 'Feel to Follow' and 'Pelican.' 'Went Away' will be their third single. The group will get a chance to raise their profile in the States next month when they open shows for Florence + the Machine.
