Punk rock legends the Melvins have had quite the career, spanning over three decades and delivering relentless tunes to some of the genre's most dedicated fans. Now, they've announced a Kickstarter campaign to raise funding for a planned documentary titled The Colossus Of Destiny -- A Melvins Tale.

The filmmakers, Bob Hannam and Ryan Sutherby, are aiming for a 2016 release and have curated the Kickstarter offerings, serving up artwork donated by talented artists like Haze XXL, Brian Walsby, Arik Roper, Skinner and Mackie Osborne.

"We kept asking ourselves why no one had ever made a film about the Melvins,” Hannam says in a statement. “What an incredible story and twisted tale both Buzz Osborne and Dale Crover have taken. There aren’t many bands who can say they’ve influenced some of the most popular artists of our generation and done it in every instance according to their own rules, still as important, if not more so, some 32 years after forming.”

The doc features interviews with the band's founding members as well as Mudhoney, the Jesus Lizard, Soundgarden, Butthole Surfers, Sleep, Babes in Toyland, Neurosis, Redd Kross and many more. You can donate here if you want to see this project come to life.
