In what is sure to be a fruitful indie music group, the National frontman Matt Berninger and Brent Knopf, of Menomena and Ramona Falls, have partnered up to form a new group called EL VY. The duo announced today (Aug. 4) that they will release their debut album, Return to the Moon, on Oct. 30 via 4AD. They've also shared a lyric video for "Return to the Moon (Political Song for Didi Bloome to Sing, With Crescendo)," which you can check out below.

EL VY, which according to a press release is "pronounced like a plural of Elvis; rhymes with 'hell pie,'" will tour in support of the album, and those dates can be found below. The album art is above, and the tracklist is also below.

Berninger said of the album, "This record is more autobiographical than anything else I’ve written, but the details aren’t true. It’s written in the voices of a few invented characters, composites of different people — myself, my wife, and other people I was thinking about."

Knopf also said, "I never worried about sending Matt something unfinished. He's able to imagine where it can go. He can grab the four bars that will become the core of the track and develop them into something amazing."
