Arturo Vega, a visual artist and longtime friend of the Ramones, came up with the outfit’s emblem during a trip to Washington, D.C. — which makes sense, considering it’s a reworking of the official Seal of the President of the United States. Vega was apparently looking to help brand the punk legends as an “all-American band,” and we would say he pulled it off.
