In 1984, Bruce Cockburn released his acclaimed record, 'Stealing Fire,' which featured the Top 40 hit, 'Lovers In a Dangerous Time.' More than three decades later, husband-and-wife duo the Royal Oui have put their spin on the timeless classic, and today (Feb. 3), Diffuser is thrilled to debut the cover -- check it out in the audio player below.

The Vancouver-based Royal Oui consist of Ari Shine and Adrienne Pierce, and all throughout 2015 they'll be releasing new tracks to their fans. 'Lovers In a Dangerous Time' is their first in the series -- and just in time for Valentine's Day.

"After picking up 'Stealing Fire' on vinyl last year and listening to it repeatedly, we were struck by how much 'Lovers In a Dangerous Time' still resonates today," the band tells us.

They go on about the cover, "For our version, we layered and manipulated world music influenced loops until we arrived at an updated sound that felt in line with the intensity of the lyrics. We were very much influenced by Robert Plant's adventurous new album ['Lullaby and the Ceaseless Roar'] as well as a lot of the exciting electronica occurring in Seattle. From New Order to Robyn, we've always loved beat driven music with melody. This cover is our first chance to show some of that side."

On Valentine's Day, the Royal Oui will be celebrating love at the Hotel Cafe in Los Angeles, and we get the feeling this song will probably make the set list. Check out their full tour itinerary -- and stay up-to-date with everything happening in their world -- at their official website here.
