The Shins, ‘Simple Song’ – Top Songs of 2012

The Shins returned after an extended absence with 'Port of Morrow' -- and a completely new backing lineup -- earlier in 2012, much to the delight of  fans the world over. First single 'Simple Song' lives up to its name, with a straightforward song structure that belies its dense layers of expert instrumentation; when the Shins played 'Saturday Night Live' back in March, the quintet was even augmented by a duo of female backup singers that brought out every last subtle harmony.
