Following up on their earlier announcement of a summer European tour, the xx have added a brief series of North American dates to their itinerary that will find the band crossing the U.S. from late July through early August.

As noted by Pitchfork, the band is hitting the road in support of its upcoming second album, which follows its 2009 self-titled debut. Although the new LP doesn't have an officially announced title or release date yet, band member Jamie Smith has said he hopes to have it out in time for summer festival season.

"We're just about to start recording," Smith told Digital Spy last December. "Hopefully we'll get it done in time for most festivals next year, because that's the most fun."

Speculating on the new album's sound, Smith said, "We've all come back off tour and been partying a bit more. We left when we were 17 and we missed out on that chunk of our lives when everyone else was partying. Club music has definitely had an influence on the next record."

In other words, you can safely expect to dance yourself silly if you're able to make it to one of the band's summer tour dates. Take a look at the complete U.S. itinerary below.
