The xx, the British trio whose self-titled debut was one of the left-field surprises of 2009, announced they will play 24 dates this summer. After five club dates in London and France, the band will play festivals across Europe, including such exotic locations as Hultsfred, Sweden; Haervic, Norway and Sibinek, Croatia. As of now, there are no plans to tour the United States.

There has also not been any information about their second album, which they began recording in November. In December, their producer Jamie Smith said that the new project was influenced by club music. In 2010, their debut won the prestigious Mercury Prize for Best British and Irish album of the year. However, with a full complement of tour dates on the horizon, news could be coming soon.
