TV on the Radio Announce New Album, ‘Seeds’

TV on the Radio are revving up their engines for an action-packed fall. The perennial critics darlings are about to release a new album, ‘Seeds,’ due out this fall.

“We’ve been through a lot of stuff in the past few years that could have stopped the band cold,” said singer Tunder Adebimpe in a press release announcing the album. “But I’m glad we got it together and took stock of the unique connection we have between each other. The record is, 1000 percent without a doubt, the best thing we’ve ever done.”

It’s been more than three years since the band’s last album, ‘Nine Types of Light,’ a record that earned rave reviews and cemented the New York City group’s status as trendsetters and boundary pushers among the indie-rock scene. ‘Seeds’ will be their first album since the death of bassist Gerard Smith, who lost a battle with cancer in 2011.

The album was produced by TVOTR guitarist David Andrew Sitek and recorded at his Federal Prism Studio in Los Angeles. Sitek has run the boards for countless other artists over the years, including the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Scarlett Johansson and Beady Eye.

TV on the Radio also released a teaser video for the album on their website — a short burst of intriguing sounds and images. You can watch it above. Tour dates will probably be announced soon. So far, only a handful of festival stops have been confirmed, including Riot Fest in Denver on Sept. 21 and the Life Is Beautiful Festival in Las Vegas on Oct. 24.
