On July 21, Detroit (by way of Los Angeles) indie pop rockers Two Cheers will celebrate the release of their sophomore full-length effort, Splendor. Today (July 17), Diffuser is thrilled to team up with Two Cheers to unveil the LP’s latest single, the beautiful “Strawberry” -- check it out in the audio player below.

As gorgeous lyrics float around tinges of indie rock sounds, the track is a perfect representation of what Two Cheers are capable of, and what fans can expect from the new album.

"'Strawberry' is the first song Mitchell [Dill, guitarist] and I collaborated on," frontman Bryan Akcasu recalls. "It really started it all. He came up with the main riff and the verse melody, and then I added the chorus section and the beat, and then later came the arrangement, the lyrics and the synth quartet in the bridge. There is a lot going on in the song."

As for the track's underlying meaning, Akcasu explains, "It’s about seeing the small things in life as the big things and being in a state of direct sensation, by passing the judging specter we all have as adults. It’s written from the point of view of someone who is in love with the flesh, the hair, the mucous, the fingernails and the grass stains of another person rather than that person's supposed personality or identity."

Two Cheers' Splendor hits the streets on July 21; as we all anxiously await to get our hands on the new record, make sure to stay up-to-date with everything happening in the band's world at their official website.
