After unveiling the song two months ago, U2 will reemerge with a special, limited edition release of their recent track "The Blackout."

The release will come courtesy of Third Man Records, an imprint run by Jack White, which will consist of a limited edition 12" of the song to be made available for Record Store Day on Nov. 24 (i.e., Black Friday). The 12" will feature the album version of "The Blackout" in addition to an exclusive remixed version by longtime U2 collaborator Jackknife Lee. Lee previously worked with the group appearing as producer on the 2004 release How to Dismantle an Atomic Bomb, 2009's Medium, Rare & Remastered compilation and "The Saints Are Coming," a Skids cover performed in collaboration Green Day.

"The Blackout" arrives in anticipation of the Songs of Experience, U2's forthcoming 14th studio album due Dec. 1. Songs of Experience was announced almost as soon as the band's most recent effort, Songs of Innocence, dropped in 2014, and is intended as a thematic sequel to that album.

In September, the band shared "You're the Best Thing About Me," the lead single from Songs of Experience, which was also produced by Jackknife Lee, one of a few producers to be featured on the new album.

While the December release date appears to be final, it's possible that we could have expected it sooner. In an interview with Rolling Stone earlier this year, the Edge confided to the magazine that the shocking election of Donald Trump played a role in delaying the band's progress.
