Ultra Music Festival 2014 to Resume Single-Weekend Format?
The world-famous Ultra Music Festival draws electronic music fans from all over, and this year’s edition – which took place in downtown Miami’s Bayfront Park from March 15-17 and March 22-24 – was its biggest yet, with more than 330,000 people in attendance over the course of two weekends. Next year, however, the festival will return in the form of a single three-day weekend, organizers have announced.
The move comes months after Miami Commissioner Marc Sarnoff introduced a resolution to revert the world-famous outdoor festival back to just one weekend.
Sarnoff told event organizers earlier this year that he thinks “about 70 to 80 percent of these kids are on some sort of mind-altering drug.” A number of other complaints have been cited, including noise and high-volume traffic, but we still don’t know the exact reason behind the festival cutting the second weekend.
This year’s installment brought such acts as David Guetta, Bassnectar, Swedish House Mafia, Sleigh Bells, Hot Chip, Snoop Dogg, Matt and Kim, the Weeknd, Azealia Banks, Pretty Lights and Deadmau 5. Next year’s Ultra Music Festival will be a three-day bash, set to run from March 28-30, 2014 – click here for more details.
