We’ve heard two previews of David Bowie’s new song, “Blackstar” (stylized as ★), but today (Nov. 19), the iconic English artist has unveiled the track in full in a short film directed by Johan Reneck.

“Blackstar” first appeared as the theme music for Reneck’s new TV series, The Last Panthers, and again in a trailer for the song’s 10-minute music video. Following its theatrical premiere in New York City today, Reneck's film has surfaced in its entirety. Among its eerie images are a spaceman with nothing but a bedazzled skull within the helmet, a girl with a tail and Bowie himself leading a cult-like group in a convulsion-dance hybrid that we can only assume is described as “doing the Blackstar.” In true imperceptible Bowie fashion, the song’s foreboding lurch transforms halfway through as he declares, “I’mma take you home / Take your passport and shoes.” Check it out above.

“Blackstar” will appear as one of the eight tracks included on Bowie’s album of the same name when it arrives on his 69th birthday on Jan. 8. There’s also a promo clip for the forthcoming LP’s vinyl release, which can be seen below.

While Bowie is gearing up for his follow-up to 2013’s The Next Day, before then, he’ll reissue his 1997 full-length, Earthling, for Record Store Day Black Friday.
