Who would have guessed? Last night on Conan, indie rock faves Spoon summoned the ghosts of rock and roll past and called upon the almighty Cramps for inspiration. Spoon plowed through a version of "TV Set" – a song that originally appeared on the Cramps' 1980 debut, Songs the Lord Taught Us.

Spoon stayed true to the chaos and glory of the original while managing to add their own stamp on it.. Frontman Brit Daniel threw in more than a few nods to the style of Cramps singer Lux Interior along the way, albeit without the over the top persona. Sadly, Interior passed away in 2009 at age 62. Check out Spoon's version above and a live version of the song by the Cramps from 1979 below.

Spoon's version appears on the recently released soundtrack to the remake of Poltergeist, and is also available as a single. The band are currently on tour throughout the summer.
