It’s been a minute since Tune-Yards (a.k.a. Merrill Garbus) dropped her third full-length, Nikki Nack, but just in case you forgot how great the album is, she’s unveiled a music video for the LP’s penultimate track, “Rocking Chair.”

The new clip, which was created by Sarah Pupo, is a barrage of colorful, abstract, stop-motion images. Pupo offered this description in a press release:

This beat and feeling of being held and grieving are what I tried to capture in the animation through both abstract and figurative imagery. Stop motion animation techniques allowed me to improvise a mish-mash of cut paper symbols, patterns, shapes and characters in different layers and combinations. And, because I was working from Merrill’s music, I couldn’t help but integrate lots of vivid colour and rich dissonance. It was a great pleasure to make.

Nikki Nack arrived in the spring of last year, following the experimental pop artist’s 2011 effort, Whokill, and her 2009 debut, Bird-Brains. Previously, Garbus shared videos for Nikki Nack’s “Wait for a Minute,” “Real Thing” and “Water Fountain.”
