Rhode Island's acclaimed Newport Folk Festival is gearing up to migrate West for the inaugural edition of Way Over Yonder. The two-day bash, set to take place at the scenic Santa Monica Pier on Oct. 5-6, features the likes of Conor Oberst, Neko Case and Brett Dennen, plus many more.

Other acts on the lineup include Justin Townes Earle, Calexico, Shovels & Rope, First Aid Kit, the Felice Brothers, Jonathan Wilson and Thao & the Get Down Stay Down. Festival-goers will also enjoy performances by a number of solo artists in the Carousel.

"We are thrilled to bring Newport Folk Festival to the West Coast, and look forward to meeting new friends and expanding the Newport Folk Family," said producer and festival organizer Jay Sweet in a recent press release. "I am humbled that we are able to partner with people who respect the history of our festival and share the dream of making sure this fabulous music continues to evolve and reach new audiences."

"While our festival has been filled to capacity over the past few years, this partnership makes it possible for fans to experience some of the same great artists in a similar picture perfect setting,” added festival founder George Wein. “With the Newport Bridge, historic Fort Adams and Narragansett Bay as backdrops, enjoying Newport has been as special as the music. The Santa Monica Pier holds its own unique magic, and no doubt music lovers will also want to come back there year after year."

Tickets go on sale this Friday, June 14, at 10AM via Ticketfly. A limited number of early bird passes will also be available for purchase. Check out the fest’s official site for more info.
