Will Ferrell and Chad Smith’s Drum Battle May Continue With Lars Ulrich

If you thought the epic Chad Smith-Will Ferrell feud was settled with that drum-off on ‘The Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon’ last month, think again. Ferrell now has his eyes set on Metallica drummer Lars Ulrich as the next lookalike to join the fray.

The battle all began when Ferrell claimed his virtual doppelganger and Red Hot Chili Peppers drummer Smith wasn’t real, and Smith responded by challenging the actor to a drum-off. They settled the score once and for all (or so we thought) on ‘Fallon,’ and Ferrell came out victorious. Of course, it didn’t hurt that the Roots drummer Questlove was actually doing most — or rather, all – of the heavy lifting.

But in a recent interview with Spin, Ferrell said that Ulrich also bears an uncanny resemblance to the twosome, which could mean expanding the scope of the original drumming duel.

“Lars gets pissed because he gets mistaken for both me and Chad Smith,” the actor said. “He can settle that score now too. There it is. The gauntlet is down.”

Only time will tell if Ulrich takes the bait and we’re in for yet another drum-off for the ages. Stay tuned.
