World of Red Bull Commercial – What’s the Song?

A new Red Bull commercial featuring the energy drink's well known "Red Bull Gives You Wings" tagline is almost spilling over with uplifting and inspiring scenes of Generation X-styled achievement -- and it gets an added jolt of electricity from the song 'My Tears Are Becoming a Sea,' a track off French indietronica act M83's latest album, 'Hurry Up, We're Dreaming.'

The clip opens with dawn in New York City. "I want to wake up every morning with a passion," a voiceover intones over shots of a skater hitting a jump, guys playing hoops, dancers busting out some moves, a DJ singing in a studio. "I want to wake up with a smile on my face and be able to say I love what I do."

Soon those scenes in the commercial give way to more impressive feats, as skaters land some tight tricks, b-ball players nail some sick slam dunks, dancers pull off some amazing aerial acrobatics and a band hits the stage of stadium packed full of cheering fans. The dancing, including a few guys managing some crazy backwards flips -- and with the footage slowed down for maximum impact -- is especially awesome.

As the Red Bull commercial winds down, another voice chimes in: "You can dream about it, or go out and make it happen." A positive attitude if we've ever heard one! That line also pairs nicely with M83's album title, which takes the act of dreaming and puts an urgent action ('hurry up!') in front of it.

The song itself -- a shimmering slab of atmospheric crescendos -- not only ties it all together, but adds another layer to the equation. After all, the mainstream success of 'Hurry Up, We're Dreaming' may be one of the music industry's bigger surprises of the last year.
