This singer fronts a popular Brooklyn-based indie rock duo these days, but her background hasn't always been so hip. Growing up in New Jersey with a theater and television background, she appeared in a Nickelodeon magazine commercial and sang in a teen pop group called RubyBlue. Think you know who it is?

After taking a break from the entertainment world to go to college, she moved to Brooklyn, where she met a former guitarist from the hardcore band Poison the Well. The two formed their current band in 2008 and have released two albums, including their sophomore set, which dropped earlier this year.
