Although they're literally based in Edinburgh, Scotland, Young Fathers live on a island "thrown up by a pop volcano," according to the only kind of press release that suits a psych-tinged, genre-smashing, bizarro-rap trio of their sort. Featuring two members originally from Africa, Young Fathers are getting ready to drop a new album called 'DEAD' via Anticon, and earlier today, Spin premiered the single 'War.' Check it out below.

Built on handclaps, twinkling percussion and wonky synth bits, 'War' finds the Afro-Scottish rhymers flinging the kinds of lines you won't find in American hip-hop. To wit: "Dead ringers / Zombie singers / Coughing in the coffin / Reborn a new beginner / Destiny’s past / You dutty wee rass.'

Due out Feb. 4, 'DEAD' follows a pair of acclaimed mixtape EPs -- 'TAPE ONE' and 'TAPE TWO' -- and a string of buzzed-about shows at this year's SXSW. In 2014, Young Fathers are "set to sail the globe like a ghost ship, bringing dread and joy to safe harbours and dangerous docks," as per their hype machine, so keep vigilant, America!
