When it comes to cutesy indie rock romance, the subgenre twee -- with its almost sickeningly sweet, dainty lyrics and delicate sound -- has the market cornered. And while Scottish twee powerhouse Belle and Sebastian's 2003 single 'Step Into My Office, Baby' is twee to the core, its video take a more humorous approach. A female office worker bending suggestively over a copy machine summons the man washing windows in for a shag, and what happens next plays out in an over-the-top montage of symbolic imagery: a train roaring through a tunnel, firefighters squirting foam from a hose, a school of minnows swimming urgently. That neat little trick is employed again and again, as the washer works his way around the office, scores a promotion ... and eventually finds true love. Awww.
