When you think about Nashville, you likely conjure thoughts of cowboy boots and Taylor Swift -- but there’s much more to Music City than just mainstream country. Nestled away is a burgeoning rock scene, and climbing to the top of the pack are alt-rockers Better Off. Having spent the last year celebrating the release of their debut studio album, ‘(I Think) I’m Leaving,’ Better Off are getting ready to drop a brand-new 7-inch via Equal Vision. Today (Oct. 15), Diffuser is thrilled to debut the A-side track, ‘Meth Head,’ in the audio player below. Oh, and we’ve got your shot at scoring the vinyl, too!

Better Off harken memories of the mid-2000s alt- and emo-rock scene, but unlike most of the bands during that time, Better Off have created a very mature sound in a short amount of time. ‘Meth Head’ is a perfect example of that flourishing sound.

“‘Meth Head’ is about self-destructive behavior,” Luke Ganered tells us. “At the time we wrote this, I had been watching ‘Breaking Bad’ and was obsessed with Walter White’s character. He is the definition of destructive behavior.

He goes on, “A school teacher that resorts to cooking meth so he can pay his medical bills? It’s dark, funny and a metaphor for the hunt to fill a void.”

Better Off’s latest 7-inch, ‘Meth Head’ b/w ‘I Was Better 10 Years Ago,’ hits the streets on Oct. 27. It will be limited to 1000 copies, with 700 discs pressed on transparent purple wax and 300 pressed on transparent orange. Get details about the release here.

If you’re feeling lucky, though, Diffuser is excited to give you the chance at scoring the 7-inch for free! And it’s easy: All you have to do is retweet the below message and follow @DiffuserFM and @BttrOff on Twitter:
