It's no secret that Billy Corgan helped his old friend and flame Courtney Love write music for 1998's 'Celebrity Skin,' the first Hole album recorded following the death of Kurt Cobain. But what has been kept pretty hush-hush is that Corgan also performed on the album, too, spending 12 days in the studio with Hole and lending his bass playing to three songs -- including 'Petals' -- Melissa Auf der Maur was unable to play. (Perhaps Auf der Maur's troubles were the reason Corgan's participation was kept secret at the time). "[He was like] a math teacher who wouldn't give you the answers but was making you solve the problems yourself," Love said of Corgan.
