Camera Obscura Announce New Album, 2013 Tour Dates

Fans getting impatient for new music from Camera Obscura received some good news last night (Feb. 27), when the Scottish indie-pop act announced plans to finally release the follow-up to their 2009 album 'My Maudlin Career.' The new one, titled 'Desire Lines' and due June 4, will be supported by a slew of dates in the coming months both here in the States and on their side of Atlantic.

Camera Obscura started recording 'Desire Lines' last December in Portland, Ore., with producer Tucker Martine (R.E.M., My Morning Jacket) and wrapped up work on the disc last month. They were joined in the studio by Neko Case and MMJ's Jim James, both of whom provided backing vocals on the disc.

"Of all our records this was pretty much the most challenging to write ... because it would be record number five and we were getting harder and harder to please," says Camera Obscura's Tracyanne Campbell. "Working in the U.S. with southern gentleman Tucker Martine was a positive experience. He brought a certain calmness to recording that wasn't there before. We were also delighted to have Neko Case and Jim James sing on the record too. What a treat."

What a treat, indeed.
