From its humble origins back in 2003, when it had an unprintable name and took place in a single club, FYF Fest has grown into Los Angeles' premier indie-music festival.

On Sunday (Aug. 25), the second and final day of FYF Fest 2013, many fans on hand for the L.A. event fell into one of two camps. First, there were those that pretty much only cared about My Bloody Valentine, playing SoCal for the first time since 2009 and promoting one of the year's most talked-about albums. FYF Fest has come a long way in 10 years. From the small venues of Echo Park to its current Chinatown home in Los Angeles, the fest is known for its commitment to fans and music, and for experiencing its share growing pains. But 10 appears to be the magic number in terms of getting things right and maintaining the spirit on which the event was founded.

L.A.’s FYF Fest is back for its 10th go-round, and this year’s weekend-long bash runs Aug. 24-25 at the Los Angeles State Historic Park. The lineup features My Bloody Valentine, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, TV on the Radio, MGMT and Beach House, plus dozens more top-name acts.
