Bowie Band Members Begin ‘Celebrating David Bowie’ Tour with All-Star Lineup: Setlist, Video
A tribute tour featuring members of David Bowie's band "performing Bowie music Bowie style" with an array of special guests launched Jan. 8 — what would have been his 70th birthday — at the Brixton Academy in London.
During its first night, the tour — which is scheduled to move on to New York, Los Angeles, and Tokyo — featured appearances from a number of pop and rock luminaries and Bowie acolytes, including Simon Le Bon of Duran Duran, La Roux, and Def Leppard frontman Joe Elliott. Bowie vets Earl Slick, Adrian Belew, Mark Garson, and Gail Ann Dorsey led the crowd through a setlist stuffed with hits and fan favorites like "Young Americans," "All the Young Dudes" (featuring Elliott, as captured by the fan-shot footage below), and "Let's Dance" (featuring Le Bon, which you can watch above).
Bowie's birthday was also marked over the weekend with the release of No Plan, a four-song EP uniting "Lazarus," from his Blackstar album, with a trio of songs recorded before his death and previously included on the cast album for his Lazarus musical.
The Celebrating David Bowie tour marks its next engagement Jan. 10 in New York, and will feature a variety of different guests at its various stops. As previously reported, Sting is set to headline the tour's Jan. 24 stop in Los Angeles.
