Britain's postal agency is giving David Bowie the royal stamp of approval.

Royal Mail announced Wednesday that it is issuing 10 special stamps commemorating the late rock icon this March. The agency said in a press release this is the first time it has “dedicated an entire stamp issue to an individual music artist or cultural figure.”
Six of the stamps feature the cover artwork of his albums: Hunky Dory, Aladdin Sane, "Heroes," Let's Dance, Earthling, and Blackstar.

The remaining four stamps feature images of Bowie from his live performances, including scenes from the Ziggy Stardust tour (1972), the Stage tour (1978) the Serious Moonlight tour (1983), and A Reality tour (2004).

The stamps will be available on sale in Britain on March 14. “For five decades David Bowie was at the forefront of contemporary culture, and has influenced successive generations of musicians, artists, designers and writers,” said Phillip Parker, Royal Mail stamp strategy manager in a statement. “Royal Mail’s stamp issue celebrates this unique figure and some of his many celebrated personas.”

Bowie died last January following a private battle with cancer, shortly after the release of Blackstar. His friends and former bandmates are curently in the midst of a worldwide series of 'Celebrating David Bowie' concerts in his honor.

Last year Royal Mail issued a series of stamps honoring Pink Floyd.
