Frances Bean Cobain Releases New Song Performance Video
Frances Bean Cobain released a performance clip of another new song, as she continued to slowly tease her work on a career in music.
The daughter of Nirvana icon Kurt Cobain previously teased a handful of compositions, answering, “Oh yes” when asked if she planned to share more.
You can watch her latest video below:
The lyrics contain references to love, death and being trapped, including the line "Damn near killed me, damn near killed myself" and the refrain “Don’t you think you ought to let me go.” Cobain added in the caption, “If I could keep the raspiness in my voice from being sick without getting sick… I would.”
In April she was asked whether her late father would have liked her music. “I don't have an answer for that because I don't want to speak on someone else's behalf,” she replied. “I would hope that he would be proud of the human being I am even if he didn't like the art I am putting out. That's all I would ask of anyone in my life.” Elsewhere she’d said, “people probably can make assumptions or conclusions about my art because they are informed about my life’s trajectory. Not everyone has to like it, that’s not a requirement of making and receiving art.”
She’d previously noted, “Not having a TV in my house is the best decision, because I’m forced to occupy my time with things that feed my brain and soul instead of wasting energy on thinking about not having to think.”
