Ki-ki-ki ma-ma-ma. Ki-ki-ki ma-ma-ma. Ah, the sweet sounds of the original ‘Friday the 13th,’ which scared the pants off moviegoers in 1980. In that first movie, Jason Vorhees -- the hockey-masked murderer -- wasn’t even the killer. It was his crazy-ass mother. So when the movie got a 2009 retooling -- as many of the greatest '80s horror movies have in the past few years -- the producers cut right to the chase and installed Jason as the slasher from the get-go. Another thing they did was give the reboot a kickass soundtrack. We’ve got the five choicest cuts for you.

    ‘Freak Ya Loneliness’

    The Bumblebeez

‘Freak Ya Loneliness,’ a distortion-laced, gritty guitar rocker from Aussie brother-and-sister team the Bumblebeez, is the first sample of what happens when the producers of a horror movie remake decide to put a glorious tune on their soundtrack. The song smacks of countrymen the Vines, and you really can’t go wrong with a tune that kicks off with a man yelling "Yee-haw!" and locking and loading a shotgun.

    ‘She Does’

    Locksley

At a lightning fast minute and 53 seconds, Locksley’s ‘She Does’ has "‘Nuggets'-era" and "Brit-tastic" written all over its bathroom walls, and it reminds us of the glorious Aussie rock band Jet -- which is funny, because Locksley couldn't hail from a less Down Under locale. They're from Madison, Wisc. Cheeseheads and beheaders, unite!

    ‘My Favourite Book’

    Stars

If you’re not in love with Amy Millan’s voice within the first few seconds of ‘My Favourite Book,’ from Canadian band Stars’ fourth album, ‘In Our Bedroom After the War,’ you have no heart. In fact, it was probably recently sliced out of your chest by a big, smelly guy with a hockey mask on.

    ‘Night Train’

    The Kills

From third album ‘Midnight Boom,’ there’s a certain spookiness to this Kills song. The staccato, echoing guitars remind us of black cats deviously prowling a dark alleyway long after dusk. And then of course, there’s the glorious wail of head pussycat Alison Mosshart -- who even Jason would drop his nearest death implement to gawk at. Yowza.

    ‘Tick Tick Boom’

    The Hives

The hottest thing out of Sweden that doesn’t have blonde hair and blue eyes and won't keep you warm at night, the Hives bring it with the massive track 'Tick Tick Boom.’ It's another one of those songs that has lyrics that link up well with the idea of Jason, as “It’s too late” gets repeated numerous times. And then of course, there’s the ri-damn-diculous chorus, which incorporates the spoken-word sound of a bomb getting ready to ‘splode.
