Green Day Reissuing Entire Studio Catalog in New Box Set
Ahead of their forthcoming barrage of three new albums known as '¡Uno!,' '¡Dos!' and '¡Tres!,' Green Day will treat their especially dedicated uber-fans with the release of a box set featuring all eight of their previous full-length studio albums. Titled, appropriately, 'The Studio Albums 1990-2009,' the set will be available exclusively through Best Buy retailers on Sept. 4.
'The Studio Albums 1990-2009' will arrive in a fancy clamshell box (how punk is that?! just kidding, Bille Joe!) with each separate album coming in an individual paper sleeve featuring the disc's original artwork. No new or previously unreleased material will come with 'The Studio Albums 1990-2009,' and a price for the collection has not been announced.
The eight Green Day albums featured, in order, are 1990's '1,039/Smoothed Out Slappy Hours,' 1992's 'Kerplunk,' 1994's 'Dookie,' 1995's 'Insomniac,' 1997's 'Nimrod,' 2000's 'Warning,' 2004's 'American Idiot' and 2009's '21st Century Breakdown.' That spans the band's early releases on the indie label Lookout! Records through to their latest from Reprise/Warner Bros., and hopefully will offer enough ear candy to tide fans over until '¡Uno!' drops.
Green Day's forthcoming trilogy of releases kicks off on Sept. 25 with the arrival of '¡Uno!' and includes '¡Dos!,' out Nov. 13, and '¡Tre!,' which comes early next year on Jan. 15. The first single from '¡Uno!' recently hit radio and is titled 'Oh Love.' You can listen to the track here.
