On hearing Hey Ice Machine’s album lead-off track 'I’ve Been Told,' you might peg the band as a new Nashville darling produced, say, by Dan Auerbach of the Black Keys. But the boys are a long way from Nashville.

Hey Ice Machine are a new band from Boston, a collection of transplants from other established former Boston bands. Forming and finally settling on the new name Hey Ice Machine earlier this year, the band has already recorded its self-titled debut. They recorded at legendary Boston studio Q Division with Anthony Saffery of Cornershop, who helped produce albums for Portugal the Man and the Lemonheads, as well as Adam Taylor who has worked with legendary Paul Kolderie, producer of Radiohead’s first album ‘Pablo Honey.’

"‘I’ve Been Told’ is the lead track off our album. Its inception came in the form of an audio text message from our lead singer with a two bar riff," Jonathan Ullman tells Diffuser.fm. "By the next practice each of us came in with some ideas and it came together very quickly. It’s got a catchy hook, with a driving rhythm section and soaring vocals and we knew it was a good opener for this album."
