Hungry Ghost, ‘Get Up’ – Free MP3 Download

Hungry Ghost are a trio from Portland, Ore., who make gloriously dirty, noisy rock 'n' roll. Culled from various '90s bands, Sara Lund, Andrew Price and Lorca Wood fuse their talents to create what's been described as an amalgam of "Olympia post-punk, Portland experimentalism, and New Mexican trash-garage." In other words, totally awesome.

The trio are getting ready to release their self-titled debut, and today we get a free download of 'Get Up.'

Describing the song, Lund tells Diffuser.fm, "In the middle of a particularly bleak rainy and cold Pacific Northwest winter following a season of particularly brutal heart-breaks, 'Get Up' was born literally of a dream.

"It's a song about defiance and the will to move on amid the ruins of loss and despair. The instrumental jam in the middle of the song came together in the studio like perfect magic. For the past couple of years this has been our favorite song to perform live, so cathartic and uplifting."
