Ian Mackaye – Secret Guests In Rock Songs

In many ways, noise-rockers Sonic Youth and post-hardcore heroes Fugazi have lived parallel lives, and those lives crossed on the 1993 SY track 'Nic Fit,' off the band's 'Dirty' album. Recruiting Fugazi frontman Ian Mackaye for 'Nic Fit' made sense, as it's a cover of an obscure minute-long ditty originally written by the Untouchables, a Washington, D.C.-based hardcore outfit fronted by Alec Mackaye, Ian's younger brother. Mackaye lays down some seriously dirty licks on the tune, and it works.
