Injured Eddie Vedder Postpones 2012 Solo Tour

Eddie Vedder has postponed his upcoming North American solo tour due to nerve damage in his right arm caused by a back injury the Pearl Jam singer sustained earlier this year. All but one date on the 15-city trek will be rescheduled for later this year.

Pearl Jam manager Kelly Curtis explains the situation in a post on the band's official website:

After having worked aggressively with doctors and physical therapists for the last eight weeks to repair the damage, the intensity of the injury and time needed to heal has made it impossible to play the shows as scheduled. There was hope up until the last minute that the treatments would be successful.  Sincerest apologies go out to those who have made plans and bought tickets.  Eddie is frustrated beyond measure, but remains positive that come this summer all will be back in good form.

The tour, which was scheduled to kick off May 10 in Las Vegas, will now be launching Halloween night (Oct. 31) in Sin City. The final date, in Orlando, Fla., is now Nov. 28 instead of May 17. Vedder's scheduled May 3 appearance in New Orleans was part of that city's Jazz & Heritage Festival and therefore will not be rescheduled.

Tickets for the rest of the dates will be honored for the make-up shows and refunds are available at point-of-purchase. Check out all the affected dates and their rescheduled counterparts here.

Vedder released his second solo album, 'Ukulele Songs' -- a collection of songs performed on ukelele -- in May of 2011, and on the same day issued a live DVD titled 'Water on the Road,' featuring live performances from a 2008 solo tour.
