Jerry Fuchs of !!!, LCD Soundsystem — Fell Down Elevator Shaft

A gifted percussionist with a Motorik feel for rhythm in his head but a funky disco groove in his heart, Jerry Fuchs played with numerous bands in the fertile Brooklyn music scene of the '00s. He first moved to New York City to join Vineland, led by former Bitch Magnet alum Jon Fine, and from there, he spread his wings, performing with the likes of !!!, Turing Machine, LCD Soundsystem and the Juan MacLean. His final gig was keeping the beat for Maserati, a post-rock outfit from his once-hometown of Athens, Ga.

Fuchs' heart-rending death occurred on Nov. 8, 2009, when he was caught in a broken elevator in a dilapidated Brooklyn loft building and fell five flights down the shaft when he jumped trying to escape. Sadly, he was the second !!! drummer to meet an untimely demise, as Mikel Gius was killed in a bicycling accident in Sacramento in 2005.
