'Klaus Nomi'

This is one of the more creative animated album covers, as the creator has Klaus Nomi escaping from inside a giant tuxedo to grab a breath of air. The image is taken from his 1981 self-titled release.

While the German musician's career never really took off, his theatrical performances inspired David Bowie, who employed Klaus and his crew to be his backup singers for a 1979 appearance on 'Saturday Night Live.' Nomi was so impressed with Bowie and the suit he wore at the taping that he had this quasi-tuxedo suit commissioned for him to wear on the cover of his self-titled release, and the rest is cover art history.
