The music world was still reeling from Kurt Cobain's untimely demise when Hole bassist Kristen Pfaff died of a heroin overdose on June 16, 1994, at the age of 27. It didn't help things that that frontwoman of her band was Courtney Love, Cobain's grieving widow. Kristen was “bright, personable, wonderful ... very, very talented, smart, and she always seemed to be in control of her circumstances," her father, Norman Pfaff, told the Seattle Times the day after her death. "Last night she wasn't.”
