Laura Dern Files for Divorce From Ben Harper
Well, it looks like Hollywood Life's report from a couple of weeks ago was on the money -- TMZ is now reporting that Laura Dern has filed papers in Los Angeles County court reactivating her divorce from Ben Harper.
The famous couple initially split in 2010, when -- as TMZ puts it -- Harper "blindsided" Dern by filing for divorce. It was never finalized, however, and earlier this year, they attempted a reconciliation. Now, apparently, it's over for good.
TMZ's sources report that the reconciliation was "very rocky," which jibes with earlier rumors suggesting that, as Hollywood Life put it, "they just couldn’t work out their differences." Dern is now seeking primary physical custody of their two children as well as legal fees, spousal support, and child support. (Notably, when Harper first filed in 2010, he asked for denial of spousal support for Dern, who's currently starring in the HBO series 'Enlightened.')
According to sources, Dern also "plays a significant role in raising Harper's two other children from a prior marriage," which could make things even messier and more painful for their family.
Harper is scheduled to spend much of the rest of the year on tour, with dates lined up across Europe, North America, Australia, and New Zealand.
