It's beginning to look a lot like Mountain Jam. After two days of rain, the sun shined down Saturday afternoon (June 8) at Hunter Mountain, and festival-goers finally got to strip off their ponchos and party down as the music gods intended. Among the first to capitalize on the nice weather was Michael Franti, who took the stage at 3PM with his band, Spearhead, and threw a funky, punky reggae party.

"Keep it rockin' now," Franti -- barefoot as always --  sang on 'Hey Now,' starting the set with a manic burst of energy. The notoriously outspoken singer, rapper and guitarist could scarcely keep himself onstage, and on the massively appropriate (and massive-sounding) 'Sound of Sunshine,' he got up close and personal with fans grateful to finally be partaking of Mountain Jam's legendary atmosphere. Guitarist J Bowman shared his enthusiasm with a screaming solo, and on the buoyant ska tune 'Gangsta Girl,' Franti proved downright revolutionary in his joyousness.
