Drug-overdose deaths in the world of rock are tragically an all-to-common occurrence; Blind Melon singer Shannon Hoon's tragic demise on a tour bus parked outside of a venue in New Orleans, however, was not an ordinary one.

With a recent rehab stint under Hoon's belt, a "drug sitter" was hired to keep him sober while on the road -- then fired by Hoon just days before he died. Coincidentally, the band had recorded their second album, 'Soup,' in the Big Easy just months before. With the sitter gone, Hoon's bandmates remained united against his substance abuse, but he somehow managed to sneak off the bus the morning iit arrived in New Orleans, then slip back on and into his bunk, where his lifeless body was discovered before sound check a few hours later.
