New Music Releases – September 2013
Summer may be giving up her fight, but as the list of September 2013 new music releases suggests, record labels aren't. Plenty of awesome new albums will land on retail shelves and digital platforms in September, and at the very least, the kids will have loads of good tunes to listen to as they head back to school and settle into the grind of classes, exams and all that stuff.
The list of September 2013 new music releases is stacked with behemoths, as Nine Inch Nails return with 'Hesitation Marks,' which they will support with an arena tour, and Kings of Leon ride a 'Mechanical Bull,' their follow-up to 'Come Around Sundown,' which was fraught with drama and canceled tour dates while the Bros. Followill dealt with some internal issues.
Reading further down the list of September 2013 new music releases, English indie powerhouse Arctic Monkeys offer up 'AM,' while psych-rock duo MGMT dole out a self-titled release --their third! Additionally, alt-country goddess and sometime New Pornographer Neko Case delivers her latest solo album, which has an intriguing word-soup title.
Another highlight of the September 2013 new music releases calendar: Julie Ruin, lead by Riot Grrrl pioneer Kathleen Hanna, drop 'Run Fast,' a platter of feminist anthems encased in a cutesy electro pop package. Also, Sebadoh -- a blast from the college-rock past -- return with 'Defend Yourself,' the first from this Lou Barlow-fronted band since 1999's 'The Sebadoh.' Expect a new adventure in lo-fi.
Elsewhere on the list of September 2013 new music releases, Canadian wunderkind the Weeknd takes us to 'Kiss Land,' while Yoko Ono issues 'Take Me to Land of Hell,' which will feature Beastie Boys Mike D. and Ad-Rock. It's really an embarrassment of riches -- read on to see the full new release list.
