"Who the f--- is Stephen Malkmus" read the T-shirts the former Pavement leader and indie godhead gave out at his first solo show, but these days, he's probably more concerned with his listeners' awareness of Can, the seminal krautock band he covers on 'EGE BAMYASI.' Malkmus and Friends (said pals being members of German rockers Von Spar) recorded the six-track disc live at 2012's Week-End Fest in Cologne, and the collection has a certain spunk sometimes missing from the frontman's oft-lethargic performances.
