Sam Smith Covers Amy Winehouse During Lollapalooza Set
During his set at Lollapalooza on Saturday (Aug. 1), Sam Smith paid tribute to Amy Winehouse with a cover of "Tears Dry On Their Own," from her 2006 sophomore album Back to Black. Smith transitioned from the song into a medley of classic Motown songs, including "Ain't No Mountain High Enough," then performing Chic's "Freak Out." Check out fan-shot footage of the cover below.
Winehouse, who passed away due to alcohol poisoning in July 2011 at 27 years old, is the subject of the new documentary, Amy, which her family has denounced as "misleading."
Smith recently teamed up with electronic duo Disclosure once again for a new single, called "Omen," which follows their previous collaboration on the group's 2012 song "Latch." Smith is also on tour and his upcoming schedule can be found at his website.
