If you've ever been sick with mononucleosis, you know it pretty much sucks. If not, here's a reason it still sucks: The Screaming Females have cancelled most of their fall U.S. tour because frontwoman Marissa Paternoster is still battling the illness, colloquially known as the "kissing disease."

A publicist for the Screaming Females shared the bad news with the following statement on their Facebook page:

Since falling ill with mononucleosis in May, Marissa [Paternoster] has been experiencing severe chronic pains that have rendered it very difficult for Screaming Females to tour. To ensure that Marissa has adequate time to heal so that Screaming Females can continue, it brings us great sadness to announce that all scheduled dates after October 10th will be cancelled. Thank you for understanding and we will see you all in the very near future.”

Paternoster is going to suck it up and play the band's last three dates opening for Garbage -- that trek winds down  Wednesday (Oct. 10) in Austin, Texas, but, as explained above, the rest of their fall itinerary has been nixed. Those shows were to include both their own headlining dates, a handful of shows with Don Giovanni Records labelmates Black Wine and a few gigs opening for Dinosaur Jr. Check out the full schedule below.
